01The design story

Designed around the way you live.

An L-shaped house in chukum plaster and timber, built around a private garden. The great room and every bedroom open onto a shaded corredor, the pool runs from the kitchen to an old palo blanco, and the roof is a terrace for sunsets.

01The garden is the centre

Every room opens onto it through a deep timber corredor. You live outside, in the shade, for most of the year.

02Why it works

The kitchen looks at the pool

The cook faces the garden and the pool runs straight to the palo blanco. The sink sits at the pantry end, so nobody sits in front of the dishes.

03Why it works

Groceries never cross the living room

The trucks drive straight through the gate into the carport. From there it is a few steps through the mudroom and the working pantry to the kitchen.

An indoor stair leads up to a terrace over the great room: a lounge around a fire table under a reed pergola, a dining table and a bar, facing the sunset.

Before you build

What lot do I need?

About 1,000 m², for example 25 × 40 m with the street on a short side. The design can be mirrored for other orientations; the best is the street to the south, so the bedrooms and the garden get the sun.

How is the 2,489 ft² measured?

Living area, measured to the outside face of the walls. The carport, corredor, outdoor kitchen and roof terrace are extra.

Is this a construction or permit set?

No. A Maven design package is a residential design concept: the layout, dimensions, renders, specifications and design direction. A qualified local architect or engineer turns it into construction drawings, completes the engineering and the permit set, and checks it against local codes. We can help you find them.

Can I change the design?

Yes. A Customized Maven Design adapts the plan to your lot and your life: its size and orientation, room sizes, the number of bedrooms, the garage, the pool, the outdoor areas or the exterior style.

Who owns the design?

The design remains the property of The Maven Company Inc. and is protected by copyright. Your package is licensed for one home; it may not be copied, resold or built more than once without a new licence.

Can Maven help me build it?

Yes, as a separate service. We help with budgeting, contractor sourcing, quote comparison, procurement and project planning, and we coordinate your architect and engineers. We do not replace licensed architects, engineers or contractors.
